To Everyone who was part of Kentucky Derby Day, my most profound and heartfelt thank you!! To Franklin Post and Auxiliary, thank you so much for allowing us to use the hall. It was perfect. Whether you worked, cooked, played the games, brought a hat, ate the food or participated in any way, you are wonderful. Thank you so much for your support. Kentucky Derby Day was a Super Success – the Ways & Means Fundraiser netted over $900. It was incredible and we had so much fun.
To Dana Hussey, Donna Knapper and Dottie Annis thank you so very much for the huge help on organization and follow through for Kentucky Derby day. You don’t know how much help you were. I can’t thank you all enough.
Again, thanks so much to all.

It is with the heaviest of heart full of sorrow that I have to report the passing of our LAVFW Post #5396 President, Barbara Gonya.
Barbara suffered a massive stroke and was placed in an induced coma just over a week ago. The family decided to have her brought out of the coma and have her pace maker removed so she could peacefully join her husband, Dick who passed just after Memorial Day 2009, however she lingered until this morning at 6:30am.
Barbara and daughter, June had endured Irene’s flood water this past August and were displaced from their home for over 2 months. Barbara wanted us all to know when she received cards of encouragement from other NH LAVFW Posts and brought them to monthly meetings to share with us. She was always very appreciative.
Barbara’s birthday was last Saturday, January 7th and her family celebrated her 83rd birthday in ICU. She was an intensely dedicated and proud LAVFW member. Until a year ago, Barbara marched is EVERY Memorial Day and July 4th parade. She was not very happy with us last year when Commander Lloyd Chandler insisted that she ride in his Willy’s Jeep with him leading the parades. She realized that riding was much more enjoyable and she could smile & wave to everyone along the parade routes.
Barbara’s daughter June Bard is also a member of our Post and I’m certain words of condolence would help June and her family get through the sorrowful days that are ahead.
Cards may be mailed to: June Bard, PO Box 42, Glen, NH 03838
