MESSAGE FROM DEPARTMENT QUARTERMASTER LYNCH

Comrades,

Now that the State Convention is over and
we’ve started a new administrative year – its time to get back to work
with all our programs, reports, community activities …. and especially
membership.

Our newly elected Commander, Jim Golden, said at
the Convention he was ready to jump in with both feet to get his
Membership Program started. That’s great – and we all hope New Hampshire
has another good year …. but, keep in mind, this membership year is
not over till June 30th. The Department is 208 away from becoming 100%.
…. in 19 days — that’s less than 11 members a day! We can do it. You
can do it. Please – lets make it happen!

I am you newly
elected Department Quartermaster and look forward to working with each
and every Commander, Quartermaster, Post, and Member to assist in any
way I can.

It is vitally important for each District and Post officer that has a “webmail” address – log on, claim it … and use it !

If
they’re not using it – they’re obviously not reading this …. so it is
our duty to help them – get them familiar with it – and show them how
to have webmail forwarded to their personal accounts. District
Commanders especially must step up to the plate and see to it that at
least one person in each Post is receiving webmail.

Please keep me informed and let me know how I can help …. and I’ll do the same for you.

Yours in Comradeship, Service & Patriotism
Greg

VFW’S Memorial Day Message

VFW’s Memorial Day Message

The VFW asks all to pause and remember

May 22, 2013

Many Americans have forgotten the true meaning of a holiday that we as veterans hold so close to our hearts. For too many, Memorial Day now signifies nothing more than the start of summer and is celebrated with holiday sales. Trips to the lake and shopping extravaganzas have replaced memorial visits, remembrance ceremonies or simply put, a day to reflect upon all of the luxuries—like freedom—that we as Americans enjoy daily.

As proud veterans, we know the true meaning of Memorial Day.

On Memorial Day, we honor our fallen comrades of the United States military in the form of remembrance. And with that, comes a deep sense of appreciation for both their selflessness in protecting the land of the free, and for their sacrifice in ensuring it stays that way.

Each and every American owes a great debt to the courageous men and women who have given their lives to protect our way of life. While giving back to the extent they deserve is impossible, today, we merely attempt our repayment in the form of remembrance. We dedicate this day to them.

As we go about our activities, we should take the opportunity to not only remember the sacrifices of our fallen and mourn their departure, we should celebrate the spirit with which they served and reflect upon their contributions in making America, truly, the land of the free.

The VFW thanks all service members, veterans and their families for their contributions and service to the United States of America.

VFW Legislative Alert: Urge Senate to Pass Stolen Valor Act Today!

Take Action!

Background:  Earlier this week, the House overwhelmingly passed their version of the Stolen Valor Act (HR 258), which makes it a federal crime to profit from falsely identifying yourself as having received certain valorous military medals and awards.  The crime could include a fine and/or up to one year imprisonment.
The Senate bill, S. 210, now needs your support.
Action Needed:  Contact your two U.S. Senators today and urge them to pass S. 210, the Stolen Valor Act before Memorial Day. Tell them that America holds her military service members and veterans in high regard, and those who falsely identify themselves as war heroes in order to reap benefits should be punished!
Tell them to support our heroes and pass S. 210 today!

Congrats Mark & Rita,

WOW!!!  I am once again totally impressed (but not surprised) that Pelham Post & Auxiliary is recognized by National for their outstanding work…..A tribute to great leadership and great effort by a fabulous membership team. Adding your Jr. Girls Unit will just make you that much more of an example for the rest of the Department of NH to emulate.  Congratulations once again, and thank you for such a great example of teamwork.
